Everything was better in the past - no, that's wrong. But in the past, cognac was produced just like Gabriel & Associes (formerly Gabriel & Andreu) do it again today. Like no other, this company is committed to hearkening back to the original methods of production. Nothing is blended and mixed. The distillates come only from one region ("cru") and there only from one harvest (other manufacturers almost always mix several vintages), which means that vintage cognacs are de facto produced here without shouting it from the rooftops.
What is done with the empty bottles for the cognac, however, sounds almost fanatic: Each individual one is rinsed with the cognac to be bottled before it is filled so that the taste cannot be influenced by anything else!
Also the way it is presented is particularly pretty in our view: Stylish, sealed bottles with a square cross section, almost reminiscent of whiskey bottles. Who now believes that something like this will certainly be quite expensive is wrong: All cognacs from Gabriel & Associes are very reasonably priced - compare!
