Cognac Jules Duret Grande Champagne Lot 024/98 (75cl)
Ancient blend from 1847-1890!
Gert v. Paczensky wrote about this cognac: "The brand Jules Duret was used for exports to the USA... it included top qualities: Grande Champagne Grande Champagne Lot024/98."
It is a remarkable 50-75 year old Folle Blanche cognac (bottled in the 80s) from the period 1847-1890, you will seldom get such a quality for such a price.
When in 1890 Theodore Duret merged his company, Jules Duret, with another prominent independent Cognac firm (Louis Royer), many cask and 'Dame Jeanne' from the substantial stock of mature 'Eau-de-Vie' were secreted away to a dark and hidden cellar near Jarnac known fondly and appropriately as the Paradis.
The name and reputation of Jules Duret is being received today with this superb Grande Champagne cognac - drawn almost exclusively from the Paradis cellar and blended with all the love and care for the fine tradition of the cognac Jules Duret of the 19th century.
Over 20 different cognacs make up the collector's series and only one person knew the exact recipe of ingredients. The hand-blown heavy crystal bottles where commissioned especially for this cognac. Truly a unique cognac!
The bottle is delivered individually numbered with a precious wooden case and a certificate. Only some hundred bottles have been produced. This cognac reminds me of the famous Petit Reserve Familiale with it's 10% 1870 vintage - you really smell and taste that old Folle Blanche grapes.
